Phaidon presents "Palace Product Descriptions: The Selected Archive," the official printed archive of Palace Skateboarding's online product descriptions. Since their debut in 2013, Palace's unconventional descriptions - which often have little or nothing to do with the product being described - have gained a cult following that reads every line with enthusiasm.

The descriptions by Palace co-founder Lev Tanju, whose inimitable style has turned the rulebook for advertising copy on its head, are full of humor, pathos, social commentary and outspoken opinions. Practical details are dispensed with, and instead a jacket is described as:

The more than 3,000 descriptions collected here for the first time and printed as they appear online-a few lines in all caps, formatted as a series of bullet points-are divided into 22 tongue-in-cheek categories, including anatomy, animals, etiquette, philanthropy, romance, and travel. The text is punctuated with photos of coveted Palace products, and the chapter openings feature candid images from the Palace archives that provide a behind-the-scenes look.
