Stepney Workers Club and Studio Hagel joined forces for a special ongoing collaborative experiment: ‘EXP1’, the first part of the experiment, is inspired by the beauty of quick-fix repairs and plays with the possibilities and limitations of the vulcanized construction method. The collaboration’s statement: “This product isn’t finished. There’s never a final design.”
Studio Hagel was founded by Mathieu Hagelaars and applies their mantra of being “driven by experiment” on this partnership with SWC by exploring the key components and processes that go into manufacturing vulcanized footwear. For this collection, the Amsterdam-based concept sneaker design studio has reworked the Dellow and Varden - two of SWC’s simplest designs. SInce 'EXP1' focuses on sidewall rubber foxing - a staple in vulcanized sneaker design - the result is two sneakers with exaggerated rubber foxing design details.
The first part of this experiment features the reworked iterations of the Dellow and the Varden in a black colorway and will be available Germany-exclusive at Allike from June 5th via our online shop.
To celebrate the release, we're giving away one special package consisting of a limited edition wooden art crate with a pair of the Dellow sneakers hidden inside (size EU 43) as well as a matching branded crowbar. You can join the raffle on our Instagram.
