Asics Hamburg History of the brand

Asics is a sports brand that was founded in 1949 in Kobe and is one of the largest sporting goods manufacturers in the world. Kihachiro Onitsuka founded Asics at that time under the name Onitsuka Tiger. Asics is now the fifth largest manufacturer of sports shoes and has branches all over the world. In addition to Paris and London, there will now be a large flagstore in Hamburg. The Japanese sports brand has set up a 1,000 square metre branch in Hamburg.

One of the important guiding principles of Asics is physical fitness and so the flagstore in Hamburg not only offers simple products, but has also created a new running concept for the many joggers in Hamburg who are known as Asics Hamburg Joggers. The first shoe designed by Kihachiro Onitsuka was a basketball shoe. The trademark of Asics are stripes, which are on both sides of the shoes, and the ∂ in front of the Asics lettering.

Asics Hamburg also offers a clothing line in addition to shoes. Influence on the fashion scene

1966 was a year in which Asics also made a splash in the fashion world. It was in this year that the legendary line design was created, which adorns the sides of the Tiger and Asics. The design first appeared on the Kawa, which was designed for the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico. In 1978, Asics added the California to its range, which offers numerous features for a better running experience.

Top models of the brand and their special features

The Asics brand emphasises Japanese craftsmanship and timeless aesthetics in its models. This rich heritage inspired Asics to reintroduce traditional shoes like the Onitsuka Tiger in 2002. The manufacturer's milestones were updated, reinterpreted and reinvented.

Prominent Asics wearers

Early on, Asics shoes were widely worn by athletes at the Olympic Games.

For its marketing campaigns, Asics repeatedly enlists well-known Olympic champions and athletes, such as Olympic champion Jan Frodeno and French trail runner Emmanuel Gault.

Asics can also be seen in some well-known films, such as the yellow colourway Gel Saga 2, which can be seen on Uma Thurman in Kill Bill.
